More
than an end to war, we want an end to the beginnings of all wars.

MOTHERS AGAINST WAR's reaction to Iraq Studies Group findings of
Dec. 6, 2006:
MAW holds that war is never the answer as a way to resolve differences. The two excuses used for starting this pitiful disaster were (1) to topple Saddam Hussein, and (2) to seek out "Weapons of Mass Destruction" , i.e., nuclear or biological armaments. None of these excuses had any merit because our government already knew that the UN inspectors had done the necessary inspections. And that the tiny "mouse," Iraq under Hussein, would never attack the "lion," the U.S.
MAW asks: Who made our country's military the policemen of the world? We hold that only the United Nations should and could have the moral authority of the world to play that role -- not with weapons but with diplomacy and humanitarian aid. We believe that the UN itself should make a strong statement to that effect, if it hasn't already done so.
Mothers Against War is, by virtue of its very reason for existence, is in solidarity with all Iraqi mothers who live in fear and sorrow every day of their lives while the terrible warfare and destruction tear their country apart.
We believe that our country, the U.S.A., will need to make billions of dollars of reparations, in addition to the costs of this war, after we finally get the moral and honorable decency to pull out and begin efforts to make amends.
Finally, we agree with the Iraqi Study Report issued by the U.S. Government on Dec. 6, 2006 which stated that:
1. The Bush war policy was and is a failure.
2. The current crisis in Iraq will change to chaos if not immediately addressed.
3. We should immediately announce and begin a strong and steady pullout of U.S. forces as Iraqi forces take over protection of their homeland against all outside insurgents.
4. Offer all humanitarian aid requested by the Iraqi government, and ask that government to draw up a statement listing the reparations they believe that the U.S. owes their country since our aggressive involvement beginning in 2002 in the affairs of that country.
5. We should answer for every American aggression that was not a response to requests from that country's legitimate government.
6. We are in touch with a highly educated Iraqi-American medical doctor and artist who is a good source of steady and current information regarding the Iraqi situation in the eyes of private Baghdad citizens. We will give the media representatives his website information and email address, only with his expressed permission in writing.
WE OF M.A.W. EXTEND OUR SORROW AND SYMPATHY TO THE ALMOST 3,000 AMERICAN FAMILIES WHO HAVE LOST THEIR SONS AND LOVED ONES IN THIS TERRIBLE ILLEGAL WAR, AS WELL AS THOSE WHOSE LOVED ONES HAVE SUSTAINED GRAVE INJURIES. WITH SHAME AND DISMAY, WE ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR PERSONAL AGONY, AND PLEDGE OUR SUPPORT FOR THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE STAND-DOWN ON THE PART OF THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.

POLICY STATEMENT OF MOTHERS AGAINST WAR
Addendum, December 7, 2006:1. Mothers Against War opposes all war and war-related operations initiated by the American government. The founder wears a button that says: "WAR UNDOES MOTHERS' WORK".
2. MAW opposes the use of weapons and military equipment for anything other than self-defense unless the Congress and American people overwhelmingly favor it.
3. The Bush administration has unnecessarily put our country's armed services at risk, and American aggression during the 20th and 21st centuries have done terrible harm to the Iraqi citizenry and infrastructure for no real reason other than a dubious notoriety in our history books.
4. Since our founding in 2002, MAW has opposed our invasion
of Iraq, a country that never did any harm to the United States.
We steadily and strongly opposed the Bush administration's invasion of that poor country for no honorable reason.5. The Iraq Study Group of Dec. '06 found that we perpetrated this horrifying chaos, killing almost 3000 Americans to date and wounding many more of our sons, husbands, brothers, fathers and other American and Iraqi family members, including many children.

March 19th, 2005, will mark 2 full years since the bombs started falling in Iraq. As of yesterday, 1516 American troops have been killed in combat, and over 11,220 have been seriously injured. Uncounted tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians have died, and millions are without electricity or running water. The Bush administration is in the middle of an optimism campaign on Iraq, and wants us to believe that a stable peace is around the corner. But most realists see years of chaos and violence ahead. . . .
Mothers Against War continues to oppose the war in Iraq without reservation!

Mission Statement As mothers, we create life. We nurture life. War is the antithesis of mothering. We embrace life and we work to ensure a stable environment for our children. We call upon the United States, along with the world community, to act courageously as guardians of the world our children will inherit. We declare ourselves opposed to military action as a way of resolving differences. We call on other mothers, people of all religions, and elected officials of all nations to join us and heed the call for non-violence that is ringing across America and many other countries. We, as women acting to affect public life, will give our energy and resources to those who dedicate themselves to maintaining peace and good will toward all. We make this demand for our children, husbands, partners, families, friends, ourselves and our nation. We make this demand for the mothers, families and children we do not know in Iraq, Palestine, Israel, or any place on earth where violent injustice may be perpetrated. We make this demand because warfare creates terror and destroys family life, throwing whole communities into exile and turning children into orphans. We make this demand because we understand the human consequences of war that destroy health, homes, and security of all victims involved. In the name of patriotism and humanity we oppose the occuption by one country of any other sovereign community of people. We oppose all elected and appointed officials who support a war policy that does not take into account the moral imperatives of just peace, cooperation, assistance, and harmony in shaping public policy. The issue of costly aggression in the midst of a steadily dwindling economy will benefit no one except the companies who manufacture weapons and supplies. Dedicated to the suffering veterans of wars, and to the memories of our family members, cherished friends, and all who have already fallen in cruel battles and assaults during our lifetimes, Mothers Against War remains horrified that war is still considered an option "under God." Nations and economies, like children, thrive only in a just peace. There is no greater issue. For the love of our country, our families, and innocents everywhere, let there be no war, anywhere, in our names. We will oppose all for whom justice, love, truth, and peace are not the highest of basic principles. Mothers
